Function IsValidObject

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Verifies that the specified pointer is a valid object.

Unit

ELowLevel

Syntax

Code (Delphi)

function IsValidObject(

const AObj: TObject;

const AStrict: Boolean

): Boolean;

Parameters

AObj [in]

An object pointer.

AStrict [in, optional]

Default is True. Indicates if object must be compatible with current language (default). Or if it can be just a valid object from a different IDE/compiler version. For example, if AStrict is True - then the function returns False when called on a valid Delphi 2007 object while being called from Delphi 2009.

Return value

If AObj is a real object, the return value is True.

If AObj is not an object, the return value is False.

Remarks

This function performs many complex checks on passed value to determinate if this is a valid object reference.

Warning

Use this routine with caution. It's heuristic.
